About the Bovine Buff

My name is Laney, the original Bovine Buff. I am a college student studying Agricultural Education with special interest in Ethical Leadership. 

I've loved cows as long as I can remember. I even had a plush cow instead of a teddy bear! I grew up on a farm that transitioned from raising Holstein heifers to beef cattle. I've raised several two bottle calves and watched them raise calves of their own. I exhibited market steers at local and state fairs as well as other livestock shows. I have competed in multiple cattle-based contests including livestock, dairy cattle, and meat evaluation. 

Outside of cattle, I enjoy reading books of almost any genre and watching a good sitcom. I love Friday night lights and spending time with my family and friends. I am a proud Slytherin and a Jedi at heart. Most of all, I am always down to learn new things and love helping others learn too!

This blog started as a class project but has blossomed into a fun and educational site for others to discover the many colorful cattle breeds that make our world so special. From the mini cattle that dot hobby farms across the U.S. to the sacred breeds of Hindu India, this blog celebrates all breeds no matter their size, origin, or purpose.

My mission is to provide valuable information and to cattle enthusiasts around the world whether you're an experienced cattle raiser or just enjoy looking at fluffy cows. Join me in celebrating the beauty and importance of cattle in our lives by discovering the many unique breeds around the world.
